Am still there after all these years. Went back to school and majored in Medieval English Literature, and have been wondering ever since what the connection is between that and my job in Information Engineering. Also heeded the challenge of the Senior Choir to "Climb Every Mountain", as sung at our graduation, and have climbed in Alaska, Mexico, Switzerland, France, Italy, and Russia. Mimi (Hodges) Kelley - High School Reading Teacher; Husband: Dan; 2 children
Albert Hoffman - Executive Secretary, Bank of America; Domestic Partner: David - Computer Programmer/US Navy/Travel Consultant
After graduation, in 4 years at WVU I learned among other things about cutting classes, fraternities, Kentucky bourbon and bridge (these skills I've tended to lose through time, however). For 2 summers, though, I worked at Yellowstone Park, developing a real appreciation of nature that has stayed with me through the years. Johnson's Great Society got me into graduate social work school at WVU as an employee of the Penna Dept of Public Welfare, by whom I was employed for 17 years! Career with DPW included mental health and aging programs in Philadelphia (10 years) and a planner in Harrisburg (4 years). I had tried to be active in various movements (black, anti-war, welfare rights) but was always just a little late. Finally joined a gay rights group in Philadelphia at age 27 and discovered that I was gay as well. After a couple of exciting years of coming out (luckily pre-AIDS) I entered a stable relationship, which was later broken up by a conniving young golddigger, while temporarily a boarder in my happy home (well, at least that's my side of the story).
Met my current partner in Harrisburg in '82 and when he had the opportunity in '84 to transfer to Oakland, I quit my job and joined him. We've lived out here ever since. In California, I started another career, as a research assistant in an investment firm, which was fun and somewhat eye-opening (as a social worker I never expected to know anything about stocks and other capitalist accoutrements). Obtaining my MBA at night school, I was all set for an exciting life traveling with the movers and shakers of high finance. The crash, industry recession, and high level incompetence at my firm, however, led to my being unemployed by October, 1990. Now I am underemployed (but employed!) as executive secretary to the head of Consumer Marketing for Bank of America. Working in San Francisco has its advantages (in addition to the climate and scenery); last June David and I were the 700th couple to register at City Hall as Domestic Partners under the city's new law giving legal recognition to unmarried couples.
Current interests include: birding and Japanese classes, singing (SF Symphony Chorus), opera and travel (last few years' favorite travel destinations include Kenya, Japan, India, west country of England, SE Australia, and Germany, as well as exploring parks/citis of the west. It helpsthat David in addition to his regular job works part-time at a travel agency.

Alex (Lover) Johns - Residential Interior Design; 1 daughter
David Kuhl - Engineering Writer; Wife: Nannette - Housewife; 6 children
For 17 years, I have been working for Ingalls Shipbuilding Division of Litton Industries. A big carrier is like a city block stacked up with room for 5,000 crew, etc. We have built about 100 Capital Ships (enough to take on the combined Navies of the world) and had 26 ships supporting Desert Storm including the 2 that hit mines. We overhauled the Stark, modernized the Iowa and Wisconsin and built the Spruance class (30 ships), Tarawa Class, Wasp Class, Ticonderoga Class, etc....it has been quite a change of a WV boy who started out with the Air Force and ended up with the Navy. I also worked 10 years in Air Craft, Electronic, and Lasers. Projects included the f-111, Apollo and Laser guided Weapons. In my spare time, I have completed two masters degrees, worked as a scout leader, volunteer fireman, and been very active in genealogical research.
On the downside, I've been through two hurricanes, a serious house fire, and a bitter divorce in which I obtained custody of my 11 year old son. I was present in the delivery room when both my natural sons David and James were born. They were very special experiences. I highly recommend that fathers be present at birth. I also recommend that we stop becoming parents about 10 years before our present ages. Young James is more like a grandson than a son.
WV still feels like home to me. If I could earn a decent living there, I would move back. But, I don't think that will happen. It has been a great life and with my genes, I may be good for another 50 or 60 years. I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you again. See you soon.
