Sr Nancy Lowther in All-State Band: For the first time in approximately four years, an All-State Band will perform at the West Virginia Music Education Convention, March 22-24 in Charleston, West Virginia.
The band will be composed of eighty high school musicians, who were chosen from a field of two hundred and forty-eight.
Miss Nancy Lowther, senior, who plays tenor saxaphone in the Washington Irving Band, has the honor of being chosen as the only tenor saxaphone player for the All State Band. To achieve this position, a student must first be recommended by his band director, and then he must play before an audition board, composed of staff members of the West Virginia School of Music.
The final program will be presented on Saturday, March 24, with Mr. Glenn C. Bainum, director of Northwestern University Bands, as guest conductor.
